Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and the operator of Grow a Tree. Please read them before you create an account.

Last updated: 6 October 2026

Who we are

Grow a Tree at growatree.uk is a free website operated by [OPERATOR NAME]. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean [OPERATOR NAME], and “you” means the person using the service. Contact us at contact@growatree.uk.

The service

Grow a Tree lets you create an account and grow one virtual tree by watering it once per calendar day, measured in Coordinated Universal Time. Consecutive days increase a streak. The tree’s stage follows the longest streak you have reached. Missing a day resets the current streak and does not remove stages you have already reached.

The service is free. We do not promise that it will always be available, that a particular feature will remain, or that a streak or stage will be preserved if we suffer a technical failure. We will take reasonable care running the site.

Your account

You must give an email address you can access and a password that meets the rules shown on the sign-up form: at least 12 characters, with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number, and a symbol. You must confirm your email before you can log in.

You are responsible for keeping your password private and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has used it. One person should keep one account. Do not share your login.

You must be able to form a contract. If you are under 18, you may use the service only if a parent or guardian agrees to these terms. The service is not directed at children under 13.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • break the law, or encourage anyone else to break the law, using the service;
  • try to access another person’s account, tree, or data;
  • probe, scan, or test the site for weaknesses except as the law allows;
  • interfere with the service, overload it, or bypass the daily watering rule;
  • use bots to create accounts or submit forms, other than any access the law requires us to permit;
  • upload malware or misuse the contact email.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Where we can, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond, unless the law stops us or the risk is urgent.

Your data

You keep the rights in the email address and other personal data you give us. You give us permission to host and process that data only so we can run the service. How we handle personal data is set out in the Privacy Policy.

Tree progress is stored for your account. It is not a financial record, a prize, or something with cash value. You can download a JSON copy from account settings.

Our content

The site design, text, and tree illustrations are ours, or are used with permission. You may use the site for your own personal, non-commercial purpose. You may not copy the site or resell it as a service without our written agreement. These terms do not transfer any intellectual property to you.

Availability and changes

We may change, pause, or stop the service, including the growth rules, if we need to maintain it, meet a legal duty, or close the project. If we close the service for good, we will try to give you notice by email so you can download your data first.

We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page will change when we do. If a change is significant, we will email the address on your account. If you keep using the service after the change takes effect, you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree, delete your account.

Liability

The service is provided free of charge. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that the law of England and Wales does not allow us to exclude.

If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Those rights are not affected by these terms. We do not exclude liability for failing to provide a free digital service with reasonable care and skill where the law says we must not.

Subject to the paragraphs above, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of data beyond what we are required to restore, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service. Because the service is free, our total liability to you for claims arising out of these terms, other than liability we cannot limit, is limited to £0.

Ending your account

You may delete your account at any time in account settings, or by emailing contact@growatree.uk. Deletion removes your login and the profile and tree linked to it. It is permanent.

We may end or suspend your account if you break these terms or if we stop offering the service. Where the account is closed for breach, we may delete the associated data after a short period unless we need to keep a limited record for a legal reason.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except that if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring a claim in your local courts.

If you are a consumer in the UK, you may also use the alternative dispute options the law makes available to you. You can contact us first at contact@growatree.uk.
